Use specific examples to understand abstract (complex) things. Collect the examples your teacher uses in class, and find as many concrete examples of your own as possible (in your learning material). Make connections between the concept you are learning/studying and those examples: then you will understand how the example fits with what you are learning. In this way, something abstract (vague) becomes clear (concrete).
